With the end of term approaching, deadlines looming and countless exams to revise for, it’s safe to say that May is not a month I look forward to each year. However, with all the university stuff out of the way for a few months, it’s time to get excited for summer and actually start enjoying life again (yay!).
These are a few beauty & home bits I picked up this month as well as some oldies I’ve been reaching for recently.
Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette Golden Sugar
I went into Superdrug hoping to get my hands on the Golden Sugar 2 palette which was unfortunately sold out; I ended up buying the first one and I’m so glad I did. The palette features 8 blushes -which for £6 isn’t bad at all. It has one matte bronzer, one baked bronzer, one baked blush, one white highlighter and a few other in-between warm, rosy, shimmery shades. I really like how versatile this palette is and the colours are so easy to mix together. The blushes are pretty pigmented and stay on all day when worn under fixing spray.
Makeup Revolution Strobe Cream, £8
I was so excited to buy this. Just like the Golden Sugar 2 palette, this strobe cream had been sold out every time I’d tried to buy it from Superdrug. Now that I finally have it, I’m not disappointed. It’s a really beautiful, champagne coloured highlight that gives a gorgeous dewy effect. Unlike other liquid highlighters I’ve used, this seems to last for hours and a little goes a long way.
Sleek Dip-It Liquid Eyeliner
I’ve been wearing gel liner for as long as I can remember, but decided to try this liquid liner from Sleek. The formula isn’t too watery and stays put once it’s dry. The brush is really easy to use but I still prefer gel liners as I find they’re not as messy.
Kiko blusher brush
If you haven’t tried Kiko brushes – you need to. They’re super soft and really affordable. This blusher brush came as part of a set and I love the way it picks up lots of product at one time. The silver handle is really pretty and easy to keep clean.
H&M Lip Glosses
My first ever purchases from the H&M beauty range, I really love both of these products. On the left, Lush Lip Vinyl in Chic Choc £6.99, is a gorgeous dark berry-nude with a super hydrating formula. It applies so smoothly and has a really intense shine. On the right, is Pure Lustre Gloss in a similar, slightly darker colour. This formula has a more intense finish but is still really wearable.
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, £3.99
I’ve been trying to grow my nails out naturally for months now but they keep breaking once they hit a certain length. This base coat has been really good for maintaining length as it coats the nail in a hard layer to prevent breakage. It makes my nails look like I’ve had a gel manicure which I love, but it does need re-applying every few days.
Bare Minerals i.d Foundation, £20
I found this medium brown shade in my local TK Maxx for under half price. It’s definitely too dark for me to wear as a foundation, but I’ve been using it as a contour powder and it works really well. It gives really good coverage but it’s also super blendable.
Pink Grapefruit Candle, Primark
This is probably the nicest candle I’ve bought so far this year – and I buy a lot of candles. This has a really sweet, candy-like smell and is generously sized at £2 so I can see myself re-purchasing.
